DMC-FZ48 er udstyret med et LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT 25-mm-ultravidvinkelobjektiv med 24× optisk zoom F2,8…5,9 (svarende til 25…600 mm ved 35 mm): Det kraftige 24× optiske zoom kan benyttes til både still- og filmoptagelse. Med 25-mm-ultravidvinkelobjektiv opnår du et ca. dobbelt så stort billedfelt som med et 35-mm-objektiv. Intelligent opløsningsteknologi muliggør intelligent zoom helt op til 32×. Dertil kommer POWER OIS (optisk billedstabilisator), der giver dig klare og knivskarpe zoomoptagelser uden rystelser.

Med LEICA DC F2,8-objektiv, højhastigheds-CCD og Venus Engine Full HD giver DMC-FZ48 en fremragende billedkvalitet. Ikke mindst sammen med den lysfølsomme linse giver højhastigheds-CCD fremragende billedkvalitet selv ved høj lysfølsomhed. Panasonics nanobelægningsteknologi minimerer reflekser i LEICA DC F2,8-objektivet og eliminerer stort set spøgelseseffekter. Objektivet leverer et billede, der opfylder de kompromisløse kvalitetsstandarder, som Leica er kendt for.

Takket være højhastigheds-CCD'en kan DMC-FZ48 optage Full HD 1920×1080 videoer i AVCHD-format. DMC-FZ48 kan desuden optage lyd i suveræn kvalitet med sin Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator. Desuden ahr det en dedikeret videoknap, så du kan filme her og nu uden først at skulle foretage en hel masse indstillinger. POWER OIS Active Mode er utroligt nyttig, hvis du optager video, mens du går eller leger med ungerne. DMC-FZ48 kan også optage Full HD-video i MP4-format, der er lige til at vise eller redigere på en computer.

Med DMC-FZ48 kan du benytte fuld manuel kontrol ved optagelse af både stillbilleder og video. I Creative Video Mode er det muligt at indstille lukkerhastighed og blænde præcis som på gængse kameraer. Creative Control muliggør en mere intuitiv indstilling ved kunstneriske optagelser. I Miniature Effect Mode stiller kameraet uskarpt på omgivelserne, mens mætning og kontrast øges, så motivet fremstår med stor dybde. Photo Style giver adgang til finjustering af kontrast, skarphed, mætning og støjreduktion.

I iA-tilstand aktiveres avancerede registreringsfunktioner automatisk og samtidigt for at optimere dine indstillinger, så det er endnu lettere at tage vellykkede billeder hver gang. Den hurtige og præcise Sonic Speed autofokus gør, at du kan fastholde fokus på motiver i bevægelse, selv når du optager sportsbegivenheder. Stillbilleder taget i 3D Photo-tilstand kan gengives i 3D med den 3D Image Viewer, der er indbygget i Panasonic VIERA TV, hvilket åbner for helt ny muligheder.
